Summary

Bronze Age bowl barrow at Ashley Wood. In 1972 the RCHME reported that this monument has a diameter of approximately 28 feet, with a mound standing some 3 feet high. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water. The feature is visible as a sub-oval mound on Environment Agency lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

'A' ST 92280525. Bowl barrow 17.0m diameter by 1.8m high, with unsurveyable traces of a surrounding ditch. It is tree-covered and appears to have been excavated. <1>

Two bowl barrows in Ashley Wood : 'A' 28 ft diameter by 3 ft high. 'B' 20 ft diameter by 2 ft high. <2>

The feature is visible as a sub-oval mound on Environment Agency lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project [5].
