Full Description
Several trackways of probable post medieval date on Shillingstone Hill are visible as ditched and banked earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; RAF 1947; EA 2018). At their southern end, and also at their northern end, truncated by a later, mapped track, one of the trackways is flanked by curvilinear banks, which might be contemporary, but which could alternatively be part of the later prehistoric field system in this area, perhaps part of an earlier trackway associated with this. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
