Monument record MDO50044 - Later prehistoric field system, Okeford Fitzpaine

Part of a later prehistoric field system is visible as banked and ditched earthworks on Okeford Hill on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features include two hollowed linear features which may be the remains of later prehistoric trackways or cross dykes. Some of the field plots appear to be respected by possible medieval ridge and furrow (MDO50043), perhaps indicating a re-use of existing field plots, or alternatively that some of the upstanding features are contemporary with the ridge and furrow cultivation. The field system forms part of a wider area of prehistoric fields recorded as MDO43570. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
