Full Description
Part of a medieval field system at Park, Turnworth, is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features comprise field boundaries and trackways as well as areas of ridge and furrow cultivation. The features incorporate an area of Turnworth's former medieval open field recorded under MDO5175. Towards the western side of Park, the features merge into later prehistoric fields towards the west, where distinguishing between the two periods of activity becomes more difficult. Earlier features might also underlay later ones at the eastern and southeastern edges. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
