Full Description

A small slightly D-shaped enclosure is visible as a banked and ditched earthwork on South Down, Ibberton, on 1940s aerial photographs (RAF 1948). The feature comprises a broadly 4-5m wide bank with an outer ditch of just over 1m wide. No certain entrance could be identified, although there is a possible gap on the south side that might be one. Two smaller gaps are visible on the west side and one on the east side, which also has part of a ditched pathway leading into it, possibly a later feature.

The feature lies within a later prehistoric field system (MDO4010) and might be the same feature recorded under MDO4021. It is no longer visible on current Google Earth or lidar imagery. It was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
