Summary

Parallel linear features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the east of Hartfoot Lane, Melcombe Horsey. They are associated with ditched field boundaries or drainage ditches and are considered to be the remains of medieval or post medieval cultivation. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project, they have since been levelled.

Full Description

Parallel linear features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the east of Hartfoot Lane, Melcombe Horsey. They are associated with ditched field boundaries or drainage ditches and are considered to be the remains of medieval or post medieval cultivation. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project, they have since been levelled. (RAF 1947, EA 2023).
