Summary

Several small and irregular ditched features are visible as earthworks on the southeast edges of Turnworth Wood on Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features are close to areas of post medieval gravel extraction (MDO49981; 49885) and could also be post medieval gravel pits, or perhaps chalk pits. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

Several small and irregular ditched features are visible as earthworks on the southeast edges of Turnworth Wood on Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). The features are close to areas of post medieval gravel extraction (MDO49981; 49885) and could also be post medieval gravel pits, or perhaps chalk pits. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
