Summary

Several very shallow features, possibly post medieval extractive pits, are visible as ditched earthworks within Lines Dean Bottom, Turnworth, on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features are close to two old gravel pits (MDO49981) and could also be areas of shallow gravel extraction. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

Several very shallow features, possibly post medieval extractive pits, are visible as ditched earthworks within Lines Dean Bottom, Turnworth, on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features are close to two old gravel pits (MDO49981) and could also be areas of shallow gravel extraction. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
