Summary

Two post medieval extractive pits are visible as shallow and irregular ditched earthworks to the west of Turnworth on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features are recorded as old gravel pits on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map of c1880. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Two post medieval extractive pits are visible as shallow and irregular ditched earthworks to the west of Turnworth on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features are recorded as old gravel pits on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map of c1880. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
