Full Description

A loose cluster of post medieval extractive pits are visible as ditched and banked earthworks to the north of Turnworth on Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). Four of the features appear to have banks of possible spoil associated with them. They could be post medieval chalk pits - a larger pit (MDO26044) between them is recorded as such on the OS 1st Edition map, but there are also gravel pits in the vicinity. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
