Summary

An elongated mound, possibly a long barrow. Only extremely vague indications of the feature survive. These consist of a possible SE outer bank and ditch and a vague trace of a possible central mound. The remains are such that accurate identification & surveying are not possible.

Full Description

TUMULUS:- (?) Like a long barrow with trench down middle, sides of which are imperfectly consolidated. [ST 94621176]. <6>

TUMULUS:- Not a Long barrow unless intentionally mutilated. <*>

Long barrow at TARRANT HINTON. <5>

A very doubtful long barrow. <7>

The tumulus marked on the north side of the road appears to be an isolated fragment of banks & ditches similar to those on Launceston Down. <4>

An ancient burial mound supposed to be of British origin. <1, 2>

[ST 94621176] The area is now under pasture & contains only extremely vague indications of the apparent long barrow shown on the O.S. 6" 1902 Ed. These consist of a possible SE outer bank & ditch & a vague trace of a possible central mound. Not surveyable. The remains are such that accurate identification is impossible. Situated slightly below the ridge on ground sloping to the NE. Some nettles are growing in the area. At the NE end of the remains is a Pateral [sic] lynchet. <8>
