Please read our .

Summary

A loose cluster of post medieval extractive pits are visible as ditched earthworks to the west of Turnworth on Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features are possibly old chalk pits, but are close to old gravel pits recorded on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map a short distance to the north, so it's not certain. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
