Summary

Bowl barrow, with a diameter of 37m and 0.7m high. The southern portion of the mound is truncated by the construction of the road. No surrounding ditch visible.

Full Description

[ST 9436 1121] Situated on land sloping to the south in field under crop. The remains of a probable bowl barrow. Diameter of the mound is 37.0m NE-SW & its height 0.7m taken to the east. The southern portion of the mound has been cut away by the construction of the modern road rendering positive classification uncertain. No surrounding ditch is visible. <2>

The bowl barrow has been partly destroyed by road-widening activities. <3>

Tumulus located and surveyed. <4>

NW of Ninety-Nine Plantation. 40 paces diameter, height 2 feet. Partly destroyed by road widening. (5)

'Visible as a faint rise. It lies in a field regularly ploughed and in established grass when visited. Half the mound has been reomoved by the widening of the road to the SE. The grass covered section of the mound can be seen in the road cutting. To NW the mound has been severely reduced and spread by ploughing.'
