An Old Chalk Pit is marked on the OS 1st edition map to the north of Ansty Cross, Hilton. It is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project. Two other hollows considered likely to be post medieval extractive pits are situated immediately to the east.

Full Description
An Old Chalk Pit is marked on the OS 1st edition map to the north of Ansty Cross, Hilton (OS 1885). It is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project. Two other hollows considered likely to be post medieval extractive pits are situated immediately to the east. (EA 2023).
