Summary

An early Neolithic linear earthwork or cross dyke on Hambledon Hill is visible as earthworks and soilmarks on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature is recorded as the southern and eastern cross dykes under MDO47591 and MDO47590, but the available aerial sources suggest these were originally one feature. It was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

An early Neolithic linear earthwork or cross dyke on Hambledon Hill is visible as earthworks and soilmarks on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1954; NMR 1968; EA 2018). The feature is recorded as the southern and eastern cross dykes under MDO47591 and MDO47590, but the available aerial sources suggest these were originally one feature. It was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
