Full Description
Three areas of banked lynchets and ditched and banked field boundaries and/or trackways on the north and west sides of Hod Hill are visible as low earthworks on Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features could be of later prehistoric origin, possibly broadly contemporary with the Iron Age hillfort, although they could include later features associated with a potentially medieval field system (see MDO49785) on this part of Hod Hill. One of the groups of features possibly forms a curvilinear enclosure appended to the northeast side of the Iron Age hillfort (centred at 386010 110899), potentially mirroring a smaller banked and ditched (approximately 130m by 118m) enclosure appended to the northwest corner, recorded as part of MDO4809. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
