Full Description
Linear banked features to the east of Ash, Stourpaine, are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1943; RAF 1947; Next Perspectives 2017; EA 2018). The features follow the contours and are probably cultivation lynchets and trackways of medieval date, part of a wider medieval field system associated with the deserted medieval settlement of Ash, recorded under MDO4803. Some earlier features might also be present. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
