Full Description
A banked double enclosure is visible as an earthwork to the southwest of Okeford Fitzpaine on Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). The feature comprises an 85m long by 50m wide (internal dimension) oval banked enclosure with a possible entrance to the north, with a smaller irregular 47m by 33m (internal dimensions) annexe on its south side, with a possible entrance to this to the southeast. The banks of the enclosure are approximately 10m broad. It is of uncertain origin, probably spread by ploughing, and possibly geological rather than archaeological. If archaeological it is likely to be of later prehistoric up to medieval in date. It was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
