Full Description
A banked linear feature is visible as an earthwork in a field to the southeast of Shillingstone on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The feature probably continues a further banked linear on the north side of the railway line recorded as part of a possible medieval field system in this area (MDO49561). It might be a field boundary of possible medieval date but could perhaps be earlier in origin. The feature was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
Royal Air Force, 23-JAN-1947, RAF/CPE/UK/1944 FP 1325 (Aerial Photograph). SDO21511.
Environment Agency, xx-xxx-2018, Environment Agency National Lidar Programme DTM 1M (Aerial Photograph). SDO21483.
