Monument record MDO49757 - Possible medieval field boundary, Shillingstone

Please read our .

Summary

A banked linear feature is visible as an earthwork in a field to the southeast of Shillingstone on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature probably continues a further banked linear on the north side of the railway line recorded as part of a possible medieval field system in this area (MDO49561). It might be a field boundary of possible medieval date but could perhaps be earlier in origin. The feature was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
