Summary

Two field boundaries of medieval to possibly post medieval date are visible as earthworks to the southeast of Shillingstone on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features continue the line of historic field boundaries shown on the opposite side of the railway line on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map of c1880 but are not themsleves shown on this map. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

Two field boundaries of medieval to possibly post medieval date are visible as earthworks to the southeast of Shillingstone on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1970; EA 2018). The features continue the line of historic field boundaries shown on the opposite side of the railway line on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map of c1880 but are not themsleves shown on this map. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
