Summary

A probable Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. The barrow is defined by a single ring ditch which measures 57m in diameter. The size and shape of the cropmark suggest that the site is the plough levelled remains of a Bronze Age round barrow.

Full Description

Round Barrow (94341081), now levelled by ploughing, but visible as a soil-mark on an air photograph lies at over 250 ft. above O.D. on a gentle W. slope, E. of Manor Farm; diameter about 140 ft. <1, 2>

The probable Bronze Age round barrow referred to above <1, 2> is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. The barrow is centred at ST 9434 1083 and is defined by a single ring ditch which measures 55m in diameter. The size and shape of the cropmark suggest that the site is the plough levelled remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, several of which are known in this area. A small ring ditch is situated circa 22m to its south-west (see ST 91 SW 133 / UID: 1481293 / MDO43792). <3>

The feature is visible as a circular annular cropmark c 57m in diameter on aerial photographs dated 1995 <2> and were digitally plotted from this source during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
