Summary

Perpendicular banked field boundaries are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery in the fields to the north of Flintcomb Ash, Piddletrenthide. The features cover an area of over 79 hectares and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project; they are considered likely to be of medieval or post medieval origin.

Full Description

The plough-levelled remains of a rectilinear banked field system are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery in the field to the south of Tockenhill Coppice, Piddletrenthide. The features cover an area of over 9 hectares and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project; they are possibly Iron Age or Roman in origin. (Environment Agency 2023)
