Monument record MDO49728 - Possible medieval field boundaries, drainage ditches, Child Okeford

Ditched and banked linear features are visible as earthworks to the south of Hayward Lane, Child Okeford, on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features are located at the north end of linear field plots that probably derive from medieval strip fields and might be field boundaries and/or drainage ditches of medieval into possibly post medieval date that continue this line of plots northwards towards Haywards Lane. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Ditched and banked linear features are visible as earthworks to the south of Hayward Lane, Child Okeford, on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features are located at the north end of linear field plots that probably derive from medieval strip fields and might be field boundaries and/or drainage ditches of medieval into possibly post medieval date that continue this line of plots northwards towards Haywards Lane. One of the features is marked by a couple of trees on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map (OS c1880), suggesting a field boundary removed by this time. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
