Full Description
A series of bank and ditched features are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery within Farthing Wood, Alton Pancras. The features include a curvilinear enclosure at the northern end of the wood which has an internal bank and external ditch (suggesting a defensive structure to keep things out rather than a stock enclosure (see also MDO49640 for a similar enclosure)). Other features include a series of curvilinear boundaries and hollows which may be of prehistoric or later origin. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
