The feature is of uncertain date and function, it is potentially a post medieval drainage feature or trackway and was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

An intermittent linear ditch is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs running for 1400m to the east of the medieval deer park of Melcombe Park, Melcombe Horsey. The feature is of uncertain date and function, it is potentially a post medieval drainage feature or trackway and was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.(GE 2002)
