Full Description
An area of post medieval drainage ditches and drainage systems is visible as earthworks on a spur of Shillingstone Hill bordering a section of the River Stour on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (NMR 1971; EA 2018). Some of the features might double as field boundaries and these could potentially be earlier features of perhaps medieval to post medieval origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
Not all of the features are still visible on current Environment Agency lidar imagery.
