Full Description
Areas of ridged cultivation marks are visible as earthworks to the west of Okeford Fitzpaine on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). Some of the features lie within narrow field plots shown as orchard on the OS 1st Epoch map of c1880 (OS c1880), but which were probably former medieval strips fields. The features are probably a mix of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation and possibly post medieval orchard ridges. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
