Summary

Extensive areas of ridge and furrow cultivation interspersed by linear banked and ditched field boundaries are visible as earthworks to the east of Okeford Fitzpaine on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features cover an area of around 32 hectares and probably form part of a former medieval field system which might include later elements. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Extensive areas of ridge and furrow cultivation interspersed by linear banked and ditched field boundaries are visible as earthworks to the east of Okeford Fitzpaine on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features cover an area of around 32 hectares and probably form part of a former medieval field system which might include later elements. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
