Full Description
Extensive areas of ridge and furrow cultivation interspersed by linear banked and ditched field boundaries are visible as earthworks to the southwest of Shillingstone on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features probably form part of an area of former medieval strip field system, probably part of Shillingstone's medieval open field. The features cover an area of around 76 hectares and were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
