Please read our .

Summary

Areas of ridge and furrow cultivation interspersed by linear banked and ditched field boundaries are visible as earthworks to the southeast of Shillingstone on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features probably form part of an area of former medieval field system, which might include later features. One broader banked linear feature running counter to the trend of ridge and furrow might even be earlier, perhaps of later prehistoric origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
