Summary

Areas of ridge and furrow cultivation are visible as earthworks to the southeast of Hammoon on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features are probably part of an area of medieval field system and were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

Areas of ridge and furrow cultivation are visible as earthworks to the southeast of Hammoon on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features are probably part of an area of medieval field system and were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project. Not all features are still visible on lidar imagery, indicating a degree of loss in recent years.
