Summary

Banked and ditched linear features associated with areas of ridge and furrow cultivation are visible as earthworks to the west of Hanford Farm, Child Okeford, on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The linear features include a posssible enclosure and trackway that perhaps indicate the site of a now lost farmstead of medieval or early post medieval origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

Banked and ditched linear features associated with areas of ridge and furrow cultivation are visible as earthworks to the west of Hanford Farm, Child Okeford, on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The linear features include a posssible enclosure and trackway that perhaps indicate the site of a now lost farmstead of medieval or early post medieval origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
