The features are considered likely to be the result of medieval or post medieval extraction (possibly for chalk) and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project.

A linear cluster of eighty four hollows is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery running along the eastern edge of Nettlecombe Tout, Melcombe Horsey. The features are considered likely to be the result of medieval or post medieval extraction (possibly for chalk) and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project, Environment Agency 2021 (1).
