Full Description
An extensive area of medieval strip field and associated ridge and furrow cultivation is visible as earthworks to the west of Child Okeford on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; RAF 1947; RAF 1947; EA 2018). Some of the areas are divided by later drainage ditches and/or field boundaries, recorded separately (MDO49503). There appears to have been some loss of features since the 1940s; not all are visible on current lidar imagery.
The features cover around 68 heactares and were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
