Summary

A curvilinear banked and ditched feature is visible as an earthwork in a field to the west of Iwerne Courtney or Shroton, on 1940s aerial photographs. It could possibly be a small post medieval extractive pit. It is located on the south side of a small enclosure of uncertain origin (MDO49488), also visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The feature was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

A curvilinear banked and ditched feature is visible as an earthwork in a field to the west of Iwerne Courtney or Shroton, on 1940s aerial photographs (RAF 1947). It could possibly be a small post medieval extractive pit. It is located on the south side of a small enclosure of uncertain origin (MDO49488), also visible on 1940s aerial photographs.
Neither feature is visible on other available aerial sources. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
