Full Description

Linear banked and ditched features, alongside small areas of ridge and furrow cultivation, are visible as earthworks to the west of Iwerne Courtney or Shroton, on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The features are considered to form part of a broadly medieval field system, with some potentially earlier elements; particularly several broader linear banks that underlie the historic field pattern, and possibly later features, particulrly several narrow and more regular banks and ditches that infill the hsitoric field pattern. They were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
