Summary

A series of narrow banked lynchets are visible as cropmarks and earthworks to the west of Ranston, Iwerne Courtney or Shroton, on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. They might be of medieval origin but could possibly be earlier in date. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

A series of narrow banked lynchets are visible as cropmarks and earthworks to the west of Ranston, Iwerne Courtney or Shroton, on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (NMR 1982; EA 2018). They might be of medieval original, although, as they are located within a wide area of later prehistoric field systems they could possibly be, or include, features of earlier date. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
