Summary

An old quarry is recorded to the southwest of Stepleton Iwerne on the OS 1st Edition map and is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

An old quarry is recorded to the southwest of Stepleton Iwerne on the OS Epoch 1 25 inch map (OS c1880) vand is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency lidar imagery (EA 2018). The feature comprises a semi-circular hollow around 48m by 40m, located on the west side of a historic trackway. The quarry is probably of post medieval origin, it was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
