Full Description
A large hollow is marked as 'Old Chalk Pit' on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map immediately to the north east of the Dorsetshire Gap, Melcombe Horsey (OS 1888 (1)). It is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project. (Environment Agency 2021 (2)).
