Full Description
A group of 'Flint Pits' is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map towards the eastern end of Thorncombe Eweleaze, Piddletrenthide (OS 1885 (1)). The remains of spread spoil heaps are visible as soilmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1974 (OS 1974 (2)) and several very low hollows are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project. (Environment Agency 2021 (3)).
