An 'Old Chalk Pit' is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map on the southern slopes of Ball Hill, to the north of Rock Pitts Farm, Piddletrenthide. (OS 1888 (1)). It is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project. (Environment Agency 2021 (2)).
