It is one of a line of extractive hollows running north eastwards towards Little Elias Copse which are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project.

An 'Old Flint Pit' is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st editon map on Watcombe Plain, Alton Pancras. It is one of a line of extractive hollows running north eastwards towards Little Elias Copse which are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project.
