An 'Old Chalk Pit' is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st editon map to the north of Bookham, Buckland Newton (OS 1888 (1)). The pit is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery with two other associated pits, they were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project. Environment Agency 2021 (2)).
