An 'Old Fint Pit' is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st editon map on the north facing slope to the south of Castle Lane, Buckland Newton (OS 1888 (1)). The pit is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM Project (Environment Agency 2021 (2)).
