Summary

A system of parallel banked field boundaries is visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery across several modern fields to the east of Chaston Farm. The features cover an area of 9.5 ha ; they were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project and considered likely to be the remains of enclosed medieval strip fields.

Full Description

Bank and ditched field boundaries with associated parallel cultivation marks are visible on lidar imagery in fields to the north of Castle Lane Farm, Buckland Newton. The features cover an area of 6ha; they were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project and considered likely to be of medieval or post medieval origin.(1)
