Summary

Faint traces of parallel earthworks are visible on lidar imagery in several fields to the north and east of Thurnwood House, Mappowder. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project and considered likely to be the remains of a levelled medieval strip field sytstem with associated ridge and furrow.

Full Description

Faint traces of parallel earthworks are visible on lidar imagery in several fields to the north and east of Thurnwood House, Mappowder. The features were digitally recorded during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project and considered likely to be the remains of a levelled medieval strip field syMDO49243stem with associated ridge and furrow. The features cover an area of 10ha. (1)
