‘The remains of medieval Purbeck Marble (shelly limestone) quarrying situated towards the western end of the extensive line of medieval marble quarries principally famous in the 13th century, running eastwards along the northern slope of Purbeck Hill to Swanage. The site consists of a small isolated area of undulating ground.’
