Church shown on Taylor's Map at ST 8625 1572.
SUTTON WALDRON church consisted of a nave and a chancel of one 'pace', The church was mentioned in the Valor of 1291 and the list of Rectors extends from 1295. (Hutchins vol 4, 1870 3rd edition 108-9). The present church stands about 30 yards above the site of the old church, and was erected in 1848 and dedicated to St Bartholemew. The medieval chruch was dedicated to St Bartholemew. In the church yard there is a fragment of a cross. ST86251572, The old Church and its position is shown on Taylor's map. <1-3>
The site is grass and bramble covered, No visible trace remains of the church and there area no visible indication that a building ever existed at the site. No trace of the cross was found and no information was obtained concerning it. <5>
A drawing of the former church, preserved in the Dorset Record Office, Dorchester shows a chancel, a nave and a low west tower. <4>
