Summary

Post holes and a pit of late prehistoric date recorded during excavations in 2022 before the site was developed for housing. Eleven post holes and the pit were spread across an area around 11 metres by 8 metres. An arc of postholes with a possible porch was tentatively identified, but the clear layout of a structure could not be discerned. Dating evidence was scarce; a small sherd of Early Iron Age pottery was recovered from the filling of one post hole and sherds of pottery and worked flint of broadly late prehistoric date from two others. Small quantities of charred plant remains and oak charcoal were found in environmental samples.
