Full Description

The remains of what was probably the churchyard cross consist solely of a free standing socket-stone situated at ST 71431519. There is no sign of a plinth upon which this stone must have been set, and it is consequently not "in situ".

The socket-stone 1.0m. square at the base and 0.4m. high, is of typical Medieval type, with broached corners (see photo). The shaft, of circular section, has been cut off flush with the face of the socket-stone. <3>

ST 71431519.The socket-stone remains as described in the field report of 22.7.55.
